Tomasa, the mother of Angel Victor Quino Quino, made the 3.5 hour trip alone to San Juan Sacatepequez. At home, their family purchases crops from neighbors to sell in Guatemala City as well as growing on a plot of their own. With 10 children including Angel, it is sure to be a busy household.
For the parents of Angel though, it was never a question of whether to take time out of their days to try to find surgery for his cleft lip. The Partner For Surgery triage trip that identified Angel as a candidate for the Free to Smile Mission was their third attempt at getting surgery. Even though Tomasa was adamant that her other children, as well as, their village were all accepting people and had not treated Angel differently, she knew that getting surgery for her child was what she had to do.
Tomasa, along with Free to Smile and PFS, is excited for Angel to go home to his family and the village.
