We are thrilled to announce our newest mission location, Guatemala. A team of 16 to 20 volunteers, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, administrators and a sterilization/store-room manager, will pay their own airfares to make a world of difference in Guatemala. We expect to perform 45 to 60 surgeries in five days, vastly improving the lives of poor Guatemalan children with cleft lip/palate deformities.
Why Guatemala?
In a country that’s changing at such a rapid pace, the gap between the rich and poor is widening even more. There are still many extremely poor children with cleft lip/palate deformities who need our help. Most are ostracized from the villages, unable to function. This leads them into a further downward spiral into a “no hope” situation. In our effort to help break this cycle, we are grateful for our affiliation with Partner For Surgery, a group that serves as a bridge between our foundation and impoverished Guatemalan patients in need of surgical care.
